After the Ruin, the Community seems to be perfect as there is no war and no pain. However, when young Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) is chosen to become the Receiver of Memories, The Giver (Jeff Bridges) must show Jonas the history and the past of the world through memory. As Jonas sees what emotions, feelings, and simple joys the world used to offer, he begins to question if the Community is really the “perfect world.”
